I’m a lover of history books and fantasy novels, both of which have ever occupied an equal amount of space on my bookshelves. But it wasn’t until I realized how much the one breathed life into the other that I became addicted to finding the intersections of the real world and the fairy story. Still more: what those intersections revealed about us as a creative, curious people.
This website is part of that exploration.
Understandably, history and fantasy are subjects typically studied or discussed on their own. But I think talking about them in tandem and looking at their themes and heroes side by side may be of some worth as well. At least I hope so. I suppose we shall see as the site grows.
When I’m not working on Dragons Read History, I’m writing fiction. Recently, I signed my first book contract for my debut novel Kingdom of Ruins, which is slated to come out at the end of 2017. It was a long road to get here, but it was worth every step.
Though I live in Southern California, my husband and I are constantly plotting to move to a place where it rains more. For my day job, I work for a property management company (an adventure in itself). I’m also the youngest of seven, a die-hard optimist and always the last one to get a joke (but the first to laugh).
With that, I thank you for visiting, dear reader, and I wish you the best on all your own explorations.
